PARVANEH LIMBERT: TEACHER, CONSUL, ARTIST

Parvaneh Limbert (nee Tabibzadeh) is originally from Sanandaj, where her father was a medical doctor.   Graduating from the Advanced Teacher’s Training College in Tehran, she taught physical education in Iranian High Schools in Tehran, Sanandaj, Shiraz, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and in a private school in Jidda, Saudi Arabiai.    She has trained American Peace Corps volunteers in language and culture as part of programs in both the U.S. and Iran between 1967 and 1972.

She has worked as a consular officer for the US Department of State in posts in the Middle East and Africa.   Retiring from the government in 2005, she has pursued the arts, especially painting, participating in numerous shows and exhibitions in Virginia and New York.

She holds two Department of State Superior Honor Awards, one for her work in Dubai in the 1980s, and a second for a special mission to Iraq in 2004.   She speaks Persian, French, Arabic, Kurdish, and Aramaic.   She and her husband, retired ambassador John Limbert, currently live in Long Island City, New York.   They have two children (both born in Iran) and four grandchildren.
