Genna Wangsness

Genna Stead Wangsness (Shiraz, Tehran 1965-1971) serves as Peace Corps Iran’s historian.  Along with Doug Schermer (Semnan, Shahrud 1966-67), she has helped create a data base of 1489 of the 1748 volunteers who served in Iran.  Thanks to help from the National Peace Corps Association, at present we have the names of 1503 who served as PCVs and/or staff and 70 Iranians and Americans who served as staff members.

.

One of her projects is to maintain a list of those who we know are deceased.  At present there are 347 on that list.  She brought to San Diego her Memorial Book listing names and obituaries she has gleaned mainly from public records.

Her latest work is a 600 page history of Peace Corps in Iran.  Land between Two Waters:  The Peace Corps Fourteen Years in Iran was completed in time for the Chicago conference in 2023, it is available on Amazon. You can order HERE.
